Match Directors' Dinner Planned
A motion was made and passed to host a match director's dinner in order to put together the match schedule for 2006. Paul Stiedle will be contacting the match directors with details on time and place.

Range and Match News
Last month the club passed a motion to allow local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to use our range for training purposes. (See last month's newsletter for more details.) The motion was passed, subject to the approval of our insurance carrier. We consulted with our carrier, and they require that agencies using our range must provide them with a certificate stating that the agency's insurance coverage will be extended to the Benton Gun Club. We will pass this information along to interested agencies so that they may obtain the

Concealed Carry Class Scheduled
The club will hold its next NRA concealed carry license class for all club members and/or their spouses on October 4, 5 and 6 (6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) with handgun qualification on Saturday October 8 at the range. There are still two openings left. The cost is $40.00. (This fee is non-refundable unless the class is canceled.) The state fee for the license, background check and FBI fingerprint check is $144.00.  The license is good for four years. Mail your $40.00 check (made out to the Benton Gun Club, Inc.) to P.O. Box 139, Benton, AR 72018-0139. Your check will not be deposited until the class is held. Class size is limited to 12 people and openings will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

2006 Officer Nominations Made
As we do each September, the club accepted nominations for people to serve as club officers in 2006. A single motion was made, nominating the current officers (Paul Stiedle, James Squires, and Rex Gismond) to server again in the coming year. Oddly enough, the motion was passed. The official vote will be held at the October club meeting.

Club Dues To Remain Unchanged
Another annual matter of business handled at the September meeting is to address the amount of the annual club dues. A motion was made and passed to keep the dues at $60.00. A second motion, to raise the dues to $75.00, did not receive a second.

Meeting Venue To Be Considered
Each year at the October club meeting we open the floor to motions on where to hold the club meetings in the coming year. Please be sure to attend the October meeting if you would like to take part in this matter.

Safety Re-Orientations Required
As mentioned last month, the club is requiring all members to go through the safety orientation again. The range has changed a lot in the years since the orientation sessions were begun, and it was felt that everyone could use a refresher.
The re-orientation will be required for all members who were in the club as of May 2005. (Any members who joined after that have already received an updated version of the orientation.) Members will have until the end of 2006 to retake it.
James Squires will be at the range to give the re-orientations on the first and third Saturday of each month at 2:00 p.m., and on the second Saturday of each month at 11:00
