New Members
We welcomed five new members at the June meeting. They are David Coles, Tod Hall, Jackie Lagrone, Jenceson Payte, and Bill Penrod. Welcome to the club, folks!
If you are a new member and a new member of the NRA, please send a copy of your membership card or the label from your NRA magazine to the club post office box. This will enable the club secretary to update the files with your NRA number and correct expiration date.
Please note that all new members must attend the mandatory range and safety orientation before using the range. You are not a fully qualified member until you attend the orientation.
Also, don't forget that all new members are entitled to shoot in one club match per shooting discipline free of charge. Look over that match schedule, and come out and experience the fun of competition shooting.

Are We A Nation of Range Slobs?

I was recently reading an article on gun ownership in Switzerland. This nation of 7.4 million people has more than 3,000 active shooting ranges, many unstaffed and all immaculately maintained. Because the Swiss require all able-bodied men to maintain their marksmanship skills, every male is furnished with a military rifle and a canister of ammunition and equipment is furnished and/or subsidized by the government.

Range and Match News
The new plinking range is now open! In fact, lower ranges 2 through 7 are all open. This also means that upper ranges 3 and 4 are closed permanently.
There is a huge list of people to thank for their hard work on the plinking range. James Squires would like to express his thanks to the following members for work they did: Steve Ashley, George Craig, Bill Duncan, Rex Gismond, Bill Harris III, Pat Holsted, Gerald Kitchen, Kendall Marshall, Derrick & Donovan Marshall, Larry Morgan, Bill Morris, Leroy Squires, John Watkins, and Jim Wood. Thanks to you and to all of the other club members who helped to get this range ready for use.
Also, there was a proposal at the June club meeting to allow some law enforcement agencies to use our range for training purposes. This would require a change to the bylaws, and insurance coverage may be an issue. We would also need to ensure that training would not interfere with any club activities. This idea is going to be explored in much more detail before a formal motion is presented to the club.
Finally, the next air rifle match (see your match schedule) may have an earlier start time. Please call the range information line for details before driving out to the range.
And don't forget that we will be holding a speed steel challenge match on October 15 at 8:00 a.m. at the range. Sponsors are currently being sought. For details about the match, contact Pat Holstead at 766-4942 or e-mail him at patrick@shooters101.com, or visit the web site www.shooters101.com.

Bylaws Meeting Held
A bylaws meeting was held after the June club meeting. The updated bylaws will be sent in a separate mailing to all club members.

Friends of NRA Banquet Delayed
The banquet originally scheduled for June 4 in Benton has been postponed due to a lack of volunteer support. The banquet will be rescheduled as soon as there are enough people on board. If you would like to help, please contact Chuck Anderson at 847-1171.

CCW Class Cancelled
The CCW class has been cancelled due to a lack of interest. Anyone who has already paid will receive a full refund. We will attempt to schedule the class again at a later date.
