Concealed Carry Class Scheduled The club will hold its next NRA concealed carry license class for all club members and/or their spouses on October 4, 5 and 6 (6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) with handgun qualification on Saturday October 8 at the range. The cost is $40.00. (This fee is non-refundable unless the class is canceled.) The state fee for the license, background check and FBI fingerprint check is $144.00. The license is good for four years. Mail your $40.00 check (made out to the Benton Gun Club, Inc.) to P.O. Box 139, Benton, AR 72018-0139. Your check will not be deposited until the class is held. Class size is limited to 12 people and openings will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Centerfire Plate Set Available The club has one set of six 8-inch centerfire target plates available. This set comes as a kit. If you do the welding the cost is $40.00. If you want it welded for you, the cost is $55.00. If interested, please call the club information number and leave your name and number along with a brief message.
Range and Match News The club would like to extend a special thanks to John Watkins, James Squires, Jim Woow and Gerald Kitchen for the fabrication and installation of the concrete shooting benches on the new plinking range. This installation took a lot of time and sweat, and the benches look great. Nice work, gentlemen! In other range news, a proposal was approved at the July meeting allocating up to $3,000.00 for the purpose of extending the walls on range five (the IDPA range). As required by the bylaws, this proposal is being announced here in the newsletter and will not go into effect until confirmed by a second vote to be held at the August club meeting. Four of the walls need to be lengthened by 12 to 16 feet each. At the time the range was constructed it was felt that the current wall length was sufficient, but experience indicates that they need to be longer. We hope to get this work done before the speed steel match scheduled for October. Another proposal approved at the July club meeting allocated up to $350.00 to add new signs to all active ranges. These signs will identify each range and will summarize how each range can and cannot be used. Please note that these signs do not supersede or take the place of the range rules that are part of the club bylaws. Also, we'd like to remind all club members that upper ranges three and four are permanently closed. All lower ranges
