Concealed Carry Course in March The club will hold its next NRA concealed carry license class for all club members and/or their spouse's on March 18, 19 and 20, with handgun qualification on Saturday, March 22 at the range on range #1. The cost of this class is $40.00. (This fee is non-refundable unless the class is canceled.) Mail your $40.00 check (made out to the Benton Gun Club) to P.O. Box 139, Benton, AR 72018-0139. Class size is limited to 12 and space will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Friends of NRA Banquet Volunteer Needed We are looking for a volunteer to organize and coordinate a Friends of the NRA banquet to be hosted by the Benton Gun Club. Hosting a banquet would raise funds for the club and put is in a better position to obtain future NRA range grants. If you're interested, please contact Paul Stiedle at 888-2930. February Workday A Success We had a great turnout for the work day on February 8, with over fifty club members and their families in attendance. Due to the cold weather, the painting and water seal projects were put off until it warms up. John Watkins' crew planted one thousand pine tree seedlings (donated by John). The range is super clean, and lets keep it that way. We hauled off a lot of items to the dump that should never been brought to the range. For those members that were unable to make this work day, if you notice something at the range that needs doing in the area of maintenance and you are capable of doing it, please do it. It doesn't need to be a big item. For instance, police the area where you are shooting, sweep off the concrete pads, or pull someone else's targets from the target boards when you remove yours. The next regularly scheduled work day is set for June 8, but we will probably schedule another one before then to do the painting and water sealing. There was some discussion at the January club meeting to assess an annual fee against members who do not attend work days, or to give a membership discount to those who do show up. It was finally resolved to bring this up at the next club bylaws meeting.
New Gate Being Installed The club members approved a motion to install a gate at what will become a secondary entrance for the future 600-yard range. The cost will be $350, plus tax. The gate will probably
