Safety Re-Orientations Required
As mentioned previously, the club is requiring all members to go through the safety orientation again. The range has changed a lot in the years since the orientation sessions were begun, and it was felt that everyone could use a refresher.
The re-orientation will be required for all members who were in the club as of May 2005. (Any members who joined after that have already received an updated version of the orientation.) Members will have until the end of 2006 to retake it.  You MUST have your membership card with you when you take the orientation.
James Squires will be at the range to give the re-orientations on the first and third Saturday of each month at 2:00 p.m., and on the second Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m. In addition, the following people are also administering re-orientations, and will be available after club matches: J. L. Squires, Jr., Leroy Squires, Rex Gismond, Mark Boeckman, Pat Holsted (at noon following the monthly IDPA matches), Paul Stiedle, Larry Morgan, John Watkins, and Bill Morris.
To make arrangements for retaking the safety orientation at some other time, contact James Squires at 847-2147.
NOTE TO THOSE WHO ARE GIVING ORIENTATIONS:  After you give a member the re-orientation, please sign and date the back of his or her membership card.  We need this as a double check in case an attendance sheet is lost.

Range and Match News
A motion was made and passed at the December meeting to change the shooting distances for the falling plate matches. The new distances will be 15, 17.5, 20, and 25 yards.
In other news, Youth Program director Chuck Anderson made a motion to purchase youth program materials from the NRA at a cost of $60.15.  The motion was passed.
Match Directors, if you have any leftover plaques, please turn them in.  We need to have them updated for the coming year.
Finally, you'll find the 2006 match schedule on page three of this issue.  We hope you find something you like and will come out to the range to try a match with us.

Newsletter Delivery
Because of the match schedule, this issue of the newsletter is being delivered via regular mail only. The January issue will also be delivered via regular mail, so that users can check the mailing label for their membership status.

Membership Renewals Mailed
All 2006 membership renewals have been mailed out.  If you didn't receive yours, call the club number and leave your name and current address.  On the label after your name will be one of the following codes.  "05" means the club has not received your renewal.  "05s" means you have not had your range and safety orientation and you will not receive your 2006 renewal form until this is done.  "06" means the club has received your renewal form and you have had your new range and safety orientation.  "06s" means the club has received your renewal form but you have not done your new range and safety orientation.  This will need to be done sometime during the year 2006.

BGC Festival Planned
A motion was approved at the November meeting to host a Benton Gun Club Festival on Saturday, April 29, 2006. This event will be open to the public and will promote all matches and shooting disciplines. Club members will provide the guns and targets, and we hope to obtain donations for all the ammunition. The first planning session will be held in December or January. Further details will be announced at the club meetings and in the newsletter.
Of course, this event won't be a success without help from you. If you would like to volunteer, please contact one of the club officers at the numbers shown below.
